Setting it up was easy, I used WPS to connect to my network and first off set up a few Internet radio stations into its favourites, they all worked fine although I couldn't find some of the local stations and talksport doesn't work! (not the streamers fault). So, after more research I decided upon the Denon 730AE, there are better streamers out there but with budget in mind it ticked all the boxes. I also didn't like the idea of moving away from seperates really. At first I considered ditching my seperates altogether and going for the Sonos system but a little research showed how inferior Sonos is sonically. So I ended up purchasing the 730 last Saturday.Ĭurrently I'm still using my old (but still very effective) Marantz PM4000 amp and KEF Cresta II speakers, all my music is stored on a WD M圜loud 3TB hard drive which I wanted to stream, obviously. But I don't know whether any of these network audio players have had any improvements or updates since these posts?Īny help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated! I listen to a lot of DJ mix albums, so need gapless playback, and would also like to have the option of using a non-manufacturer DLNA/UPnP controller app, so would like to find a suitable player that allows this. These are both fairly old posts, but not been able to find anything recent on the topics But one thing that seems to be a problem with many of these players is that, even though they seem to be able to handle gapless playback when using their own controllers, there are reports that they aren't able to do this when using a non-manufacturer UPnP controller, as they don't support the SetNextAVTransportURI UPnP command: BubbleUPnP)?Īm interested in it, as well as the Pioneer N-50, NP01 and the Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6. THE_FORCE: Just wondering how you're getting on with the 730? Or anyone else?Īlso, I don't suppose anyone's checked whether it can handle gapless playback when using a non-Denon DLNA/UPnP controller app (e.g.

It's largely about understanding what quality I get from any of the units and whether I can justify spending that much ie is it really worth it? I like the idea of streaming as it does give easier access to the music library and it is clearly the way the industry is going but, like most things, does the cheaper alternative give me enough quality for my environment or will I buy something that leaves me with something that is lower quality than the CDs I have and become something I don't use all that much.

Almost certainly won't go down the Blue Sound route as the unit is probably too chunky to go where I want it to and I am not sure I really want to get an Android tablet or iPad just so I can manage the music. So, at the moment I am really not too sure. They were quite dismissive of Denon and were clearly not big fans. Audio-T were quite "Sonos at one end and Naim at the other and that's pretty much all we do".

Open to either the Pioneer or the Denon but had not really heard either and were still convinced that the Blue Sound would be better than either. Sevenoaks are quite clearly trying to push the Blue Sound solution (part of NAD which I believe now have quite a tight association with Sevenoaks - so no real surprise there).

Having a wander around a few shops over the past couple of days has been interesting.

Don't really know why but having not looked into it in depth yet my assumption is the N50-A may have a better DAC than the 30.
